Introduction

The Department of Philosophy boasts of a competent faculty that has scholarship in diverse areas such Indian Philosophy, Continental thought, Formal Logic, Ethics, Aesthetics, Comparative Philosophy and Philosophy of Religion. From the academic session 2007-2008, the Department introduced a full scale B.A. (Honours) programme in Philosophy, making it one of the three coeducational institutions in the University of Delhi to offer this programme. The faculty has, consequently, grown in numerical strength and continues to expand. In order to augment our library holdings the Department hopes to have its own stock of all the major textbooks and secondary material. Besides the scheduled lectures and tutorials, we intend to engage the students in special talks, group discussions, debates, seminars and workshops.
Alongside the regular eight B.A. (Honours) courses and three B.A. Programme discipline courses, the Department conducts the teaching of the following:
1. An interdisciplinary Course called Ethics in the Public Domain to B.A. (Hons.) First Year
students.
2. One Discipline-centered Concurrent Course, namely - Formal Logic, to B.A. (Hons)
Second Year Honours students.
