Mathematics Societies

The Mathematical Society ‘Acuity’ organized its annual festival ALPHA on February 7, 8 and 9, 2011.  On this occasion Professor S.C. Arora, former Head of the Department, University of Delhi, delivered the lecture on the topic ‘Convergence; from the Ancient Greek to Stone Weierstrass’.  Dr. Parasar Mohanty, Associate Professor, IIT Kanpur, also delivered a lecture on the topic ‘Why Fourier Series”. 

Among the other activities, the Department had visitors from NCTM headed by Professor Johnny W. Lott, former President of NCTM.  They interacted with the teachers and students about several aspects of teaching and learning of Mathematics.
