The session began with a seminar on ‘Global finance - A Practitioner’s Perspective’ by Mr Suhail Kassim from the World Bank, followed by a lecture by Dr. Sukhpal Singh from IIM-Ahmedabad covering various aspects of Indian Agriculture. A lecture was also delivered by Dr. Surajit Mazumdar (former faculty member, Department of Economics, Hindu College) titled ‘The Industrial Revolution that never was (with respect to India)’. Interspersed with these were internship seminars conducted by Chavi and Namita of second year in which they shared their summer internship experiences. Along with the talks and seminars, an intra-college writing competition was also held for the annual department magazine ARTH. The department has also been regularly maintaining a ‘Wall’ where a new issue of economic and social interest is highlighted every month. |
