ADMISSION

All prospective candidates are required to procure the Hostel Application Form for current admission/re-admission and for each subsequent year of stay thereafter and fill in and submit the Application Form as per the admission schedule.

All admissions to the Hostel are made strictly on the basis of merit. Only those candidates whose immediate family members do not reside within 30 km. (as the crow flies) of the College are considered for admissions.

At the time of admissions chosen candidates must be accompanied by their Parents/ Local Guardians for an interview with the Warden/Hostel Committee. A Local Guardian should be someone who holds a responsible position in an organisation and/or possesses an authentic authorisation from a parent. In no case shall she/he be a student.

Applicants selected shall be required to submit Hostel Fees by the stipulated date and time. If the fees are not paid, the offer of admission shall stand automatically cancelled.

At the time of admission to the Hostel, every candidate has to submit a Residence Certificate issued by an appropriate Magistrate/Resident Commissioner as a proof of permanent residential address.

In case a student changes his course of study at any point of time after being admitted, his admission to the Hostel shall stand cancelled. He has to compete afresh with others in the new subject category to re-enter the hostel, provided seats are available.

In case a resident student fails in his University examination and/or becomes an ex-student of the College, he will lose his Hostel allotment. Subsequently, upon passing he will not get back his Hostel seat automatically. Instead, he has to compete afresh for admission through the new merit list for his batch. Only in those cases where reevaluation
results certify promotion will automatic re-admission be granted.

After the successful completion of each academic year by University of Delhi criteria, resident students are re-admitted provided their conduct is found satisfactory.

Suspension/Expulsion orders can be implemented with regard to any resident student at any point of time on the following grounds :

(a) Non-attendance of classes/tutorials/practicals as per college norms.
(b) Wilful violation of College/Hostel/University rules and regulations.
(c) Non-payment of dues.

First Year Students' Admissions

The merit list of Hostel Admission is prepared for each subject according to the criteria followed by the respective Departments in college. Every subject has a proportional quota of seats in the Hostel as per the following formula: less than or equal to 25 sanctioned seats in College would imply 1 seat in the Hostel; more than 25 sanctioned seats in College would imply 2 seats in the hostel. A total of 5 seats (all years put together) are reserved for those admitted on the basis of excellence in Sports. Seats are also reserved for the followingcategories as per University of Delhi rules and regulations: SC, ST, Physically Challenged, Foreign Nationals, Nominees of Sikkim Government, and sons of Army personnel killed/ disabled in action or on duty.

Second Year Students' Admissions

A limited number of seats are available every year for new admission of Second Year students. A merit list is prepared for the purpose, after the declaration by the University of all First Year results. The best applicant in every subject is chosen on the basis of his University Part I Examination performance. All such names are then arranged hierarchically in comparison with the College topper’s performance in the respective subjects. Hostel seats are allotted progressively according to this list, as long as vacancies are available.

Third Year Students' Admissions

A limited number of seats are also available every year for new admission to B.A. and B.Sc. courses. The merit list is prepared in a similar fashion as in case of Second Year students, on the basis of aggregate performance in the Part I and Part II Examinations of the University. Seats are allotted progressively along with second year students till vacancies last. For admission of 2nd and 3rd year students in the hostel, a candidate securing 55% marks in his qualifying Delhi University Examination shall be eligible to apply for the hostel accommodation. The number of seats for a particular class/discipline shall be determined on merit based on availability of seats in the hostel and the proportion in Science/Commerce/ Humanities streams shall be determined based on number of seats allotted by Delhi University in various courses in the college. This in effect means that the proportionality as determined at the time of intake will be maintained.

M.A./M.Sc./M.Com Students' Admissions

Resident Hindu College graduates, who wish to pursue Post-Graduate Courses offered by the College, would be given Hostel allotments, provided they secure post-graduate enrolment in the College within the respective deadlines for admission, failing which they have to forfeit their hostel seats.

Those M.A./M.Sc./M.Com. resident students who discontinue their previous courses and re-enrol in some other courses in the following year will not be re-admitted to the Hostel.
